Not Our Hair Accessory of Choice

Everything was all fun and games until my someone got hurt......

Memorial Day 2013

You were skipping by the pool and fell just a bit too close to the hot tub. You had fewer tears than your momma. You told the nurse that if I could be brave, then you could be brave and we'd all be brave together. Never thought I could be so proud in a situation like this, but you have a spirit to be admired, baby girl. You had this whole thing under control.....took deep breaths, squeezed my hand tight. All this while watching your ear being sutured in the reflection of the Child Life Specialists IPad instead of watching the Dora episode she was playing for you. As long as I was honest with you and there were no surprises you were able to relax and even fell asleep (it was after 9pm, not due to concussive injury!) before they came in to do the "string band-aids" (at term that totally got the side-eye from you). You trusted me even though I felt like it was my fault, even though I had emphasized "walking feet" when we got there. It was no one's fault...you skipped and had a misstep, total accident! See, I'm still trying to reassure myself. I just am overwhelmed by the faith you had in Daddy and I - even if you were scared, you still felt safe. I hope you carry this ability with you always, especially in knowing that even when we are fearful, there is still security to be had in our Faith.

Notice this rainbow popsicle, you even mentioned to the nurse that you had a bow to match it. You are correct....

My, How We've Grown!

One of our first hair clip designs was featured in collection the other day. It was fun to see how small our hair accessories started out...can you find you sweet little baby cheeks??

You were little and so they were, too. Plus, you had these undeniably sweet locks of curls. I can't even count the number of times I was asked if I had put rollers in your hair - ha! If they had known you at that tender age of two, they'd know better than to ask.

You were wonderfully patient for a toddler, but pissing you off was not a risk I ever intentionally took - there would be no looking back once that ship sailed! You were always happy to wear bows and be photographed until your preciously round cheeks would turn a certain shade of rose. They would politely suggest "all done!" so we'd just pack it up for next time. Now at 4 years and just over 11 months, it's not the cheeks that are the give away....it's the glare and oh, you are a master! Same theory applies and we once again just pack it up for next time....

Not gonna lie, kinda scary!

Hair Flowers in Your Hair

Oh, how you love having a flower in your hair - mostly your vividly hot pink one that you'll wear with anything!
Love how the pink in this hair flower clip brings out the rosy in your cheeks.

We had a free morning to pop in at the Botanic Gardens and get some shots with a few flower beauties you had yet to model. I ended up taking more pictures of YOU than the flowers...

Here you are in one of my favorite colors for you. Our coral hair flower clip, a quintessential accessory.

But YOU will always be the favorite flower for me.

Our hair flowers have been hit with you since the first ones I made for our family pictures with Papa and Gigi...the scrunchy face ones (your 2 yr old charm was boundless). It's so fun to look back and see what we stumbled upon with those. Just this morning our lavender chiffon hair flower clip was featured in another Etsy treasury....it makes me laugh that the curator chose that particular product/ Addy photo - probably made her smile, too!

Lucky Little Lolly: Behind the Scenes

Our product shots are always a great mix of work and play. Work for me. Play for you. And I wouldn't have it any other way. You get to run around like a wild woman with some of your dearest girlfriends and the older you get the more entertaining it is to watch.

Y'all drag out props and pretend you are princesses or karate heroes. And I am never at a loss for huggy photos and squinty smiles that let me know we are in a good place.

I doubt you have any idea that the photos I'm aiming for are of the bows (this  pretty pink cowgirl hair bow, girls boutique bow selection is available now) and not the pretty little girls dancing and posing before me.....
Exhibit A

You are my beauty (and this beauty of a cute chevron over the top hair bow is also now available). You know pretty is as pretty does....and you get that, well most of the time!
And, I love you.

Thanks for the fun, girls!

May the Force Be With You

Saturday was Star Wars Day, so we naturally celebrated with a playdate party Friday afternoon. This playdate was just asking for thematic accoutrement. We obliged with buns, big clip-on ones! We fashioned our clips with braids made from brown yarn, felt backing, and you guessed it....some good ol' hot glue! So easy to do and quite humorous when you shared with your party pals.....

Everybody loves a comedian...especially this one!

What I love about making things for you is that you make them special. Five years ago, I never would have thought that left over brown yarn from Christmas would make this day note-worthy in your "Things I Do With Mom" bank. I'm just glad something fun and silly made a memory marker for you....that you'll have a chance to remember how playfully divine life is right now. Not just for you, but your Momma, too.
